What is an IQ score?
IQ stands for intelligence quotient. Modern IQ scores are set so the average person scores 100, and most people fall within 15 points of that (one standard deviation). A score tells you how your reasoning compares with the general population.
What is a good IQ score?
About 68% of people score between 85 and 115, so anything in that range is normal. 115 to 129 is above average. A score of 130 or higher puts you in roughly the top 2% of the population.
What kind of questions are on the test?
Six types: visual pattern puzzles (3-by-3 grids with a missing tile), number sequences, logic, word and analogy questions, spatial reasoning, and working memory. Visual pattern puzzles are the same style of question used in Raven's Progressive Matrices, one of the best-known IQ tests.
How long does the test take?
The free preview is 5 questions and takes about two minutes. The full IQ test is 30 questions with a 25-minute time limit. Most people finish in 15 to 20 minutes.
How is my score calculated?
Your score is based on how many of the 30 questions you answer correctly, converted to the standard IQ scale where 100 is average. You also get your percentile and a breakdown for each of the six skill areas.
What do I get for $19.99?
The full 30-question timed IQ test, your IQ score and percentile shown on a bell curve, a category-by-category breakdown, and a print-ready certificate with your name, score, date and a unique certificate ID, downloadable instantly.
Is it a subscription?
No. It is a single one-time payment of $19.99. You will never be charged again.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Square, one of the largest payment companies in the U.S. Your card number goes directly to Square and is never stored on our site.
Can I take it on my phone?
Yes. The test is built for phones, tablets and computers. No app or account needed.
What happens if I accidentally refresh the page?
Your progress and timer are saved in that browser tab, so you can pick up right where you left off.
How is this different from a clinical IQ test?
Clinical IQ tests like the Wechsler (WAIS) and Stanford-Binet are given one-on-one by a licensed psychologist and take 60 to 90 minutes. Our test uses the same kinds of questions in a fast, 30-question online format, and gives you your score instantly.
Can I use my score to join Mensa?
Mensa only accepts scores from supervised tests it approves, so no online test, including ours, qualifies on its own. If you score 130 or higher here, it could be a sign it is worth taking Mensa's official supervised test. You can find out more at mensa.org.
Can I retake the test?
Yes. Each attempt is a separate one-time purchase, and you get a new certificate every time.
